Job Description

Nealy Pierce has been retained by an independent, Non-Profit Health System to assist in the recruitment of a System-wide Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist for a Multi-Campus position. This position will work collaboratively with the entire Perioperative and Procedural Care leadership team, reporting to the System's Director of Advanced Practice Nursing.
Perioperative CNS Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the Clinical Practice Expert in the delivery of evidence-based nursing
  • Translates theory and evidence to advance the health and knowledge of the patient/family, nurses/practice and the organization/system.
  • Provides leadership and clinical expertise in the management of complex patient issues
  • Partners with leadership to develop and evaluate the delivery of nursing practice
  • Provides leadership and expertise in designing, implementing, and evaluating innovative individual and/or population-based programs of care to achieve desired quality outcomes.
  • Establishes and monitors care standards and facilitates change(s) in areas of clinical practice based on data analyses

Periop CNS Clinical Nurse Specialist Requirements:
  • Masters in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • National Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (AGCNS-BC, ACCNS-BC, etc)
  • Ability to obtain an RN License in the State
  • Ability to obtain a CNS license in the State
  • Two (2) years of Clinical Nurse Specialist experience preferred, but new grad CNS' will be considered
  • Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience required, preferably in a main OR setting as a circulator.
