As a Staff Pharmacist Specialty at Banner Health Corporate in Chandler, you will be part of a team and services that are growing. Targeted areas of continued growth and LDD are Cardiology and Gastroenterology. You and your team will be targeting these clinics, developing protocols to increase referrals and improve patient care in these unique settings. Specialty or clinical experience is preferred.
Start times range from 8AM - 9:30AM and are 8 hour shifts, five days a week. There is about 3-4 on call weeks per year. Calls are answered by the Member Experience Center and routed to a pharmacist if needed after hours.

Clinical Pharmacy Services is responsible for the management of the Banner formulary, development of standardized system wide clinical pharmacy services, and management of adverse drug event preventions. Clinical Pharmacy Services provides collaborative drug therapy management and educational interventions in patient care to optimize medication therapy, improve outcomes, promote wellness, and disease prevention. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients using the medication use process (selecting, prescribing, dispensing, administration and monitoring of medications). Performs comprehensive assessments and analysis of drug therapy in collaboration with patient care team members. Accountable for on-going evaluation and documentation of all components of pharmaceutical care delivered to patients. Oversees the activities of the pharmacy technicians, coordinating workflow and checking all medications prior to being dispensed. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients being served. Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements and provide pharmaceutical care based on those needs. Adheres to local, state, and federal laws regarding the profession of pharmacy practice.
In a Specialty Pharmacy setting: the clinician performs comprehensive clinical assessments and collaborates with the integrated healthcare team to provide quality patient care. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and disease state of the patients being served. Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements and provide pharmaceutical care based on those needs. Accountable for on-going evaluation and documentation of all components of pharmaceutical care delivered to patients. Oversees the activities of the pharmacy technicians, coordinating workflow and may, when appropriate perform the final check of medications prior to being dispensed. Conducts educational activities, applies principles of performance improvement, and may participate in Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee activities or Collaborative Drug Therapy Agreements as appropriate. Adheres to local, state, and federal laws regarding the profession of pharmacy practice.
9. Participates in all aspects of medication use, including (1) selection, procurement and storage, (2) ordering or prescribing, (3) dispensing, (4) administering and (5) monitoring of all medications utilized. Internal customers may include Patients, Nurses, Licensed Independent Practitioners, Nursing Directors, Department Directors, Administrators and other health care team members for the purpose of integrating services, improving patient care and ensuring effective communication systems. External customers may include local, state, and national pharmacy organizations, Joint Commission, state Board of Pharmacy, colleagues and peers, educational institutions and pharmaceutical representatives. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Requires current and unrestricted pharmacy licensure in the applicable state of practice within 90 days of hire date. A current and unrestricted Pharmacist license (not intern) is required at the time of hire for BSS applicants. Pharmacy licensure. Incumbents in Arizona are also required to provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire.A degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
Must possess good organizational, problem solving and computer skills. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and other contacts. Must be able to use reference tools to evaluate patient care and answer questions posed by customers. May be required to possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company’s auto insurance policy. BSS Registry Team members and Travelers are not eligible to drive on behalf of Banner and are not required to possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible for coverage under the company’s auto insurance policy.Banner Registry and Travel positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Pharmacist in the specialty area.
Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, Microsoft applications and Automated dispensing system.Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prefer hospital pharmacy experience.
