Job Description
Position: School Bus Aide
Pay: $15.45 per hour
Job Type: Part-time or full-time
Shift: Morning and afternoon split shifts, Monday through Friday, following the school schedule. Additional hours as needed.
As a School Bus Aide, you will be responsible for supporting the safe and orderly transportation of students to and from school. This role is vital in ensuring the well-being of students during their bus ride by providing supervision, assistance, and a caring presence.
Duties:
Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus safely.
Ensure all students are seated and using seat belts or safety restraints when required.
Provide support to students with special needs, including securing mobility devices and offering additional assistance as needed.
Monitor student behavior and help maintain a safe, respectful environment on the bus.
Communicate concerns or incidents promptly to the bus driver or school administration.
Offer reassurance and comfort to students during the ride.
Assist during emergency procedures, including evacuations if necessary.
Follow all district and transportation safety protocols.
Skills:
Experience working with children preferred but not required.
Strong interpersonal skills with patience and empathy.
Ability to remain calm and handle situations under pressure.
Clear communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
Dependable and punctual, with a strong commitment to student safety.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must pass a background check.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to assist students with mobility challenges.
Must be able to bend, stoop, lift up to 25 pounds, and provide physical support when necessary.
Ability to tolerate varied weather conditions during boarding and exiting times.
