Job Description
Charleston Education Partners (CEP) is a newly founded nonprofit organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes by partnering directly with families, educators, and communities. We believe excellent schools are built with communities—not for them—and that lasting change happens when local voices shape solutions, data informs decisions, and systems remove barriers to opportunity.
Why choose to work here? Because this is a chance to help build something from the ground up—alongside a passionate Board, committed partners, and the communities we serve. At CEP, your work will matter. You will collaborate with families and schools, contribute to innovative approaches that accelerate learning, and help create excellent, neighborhood schools for students who have been furthest from opportunity. If you are driven by purpose, equity, and the belief that every child deserves an excellent education, we invite you to build with us.
About this Position
The Project Manager for Community Partnerships and Engagement supports CEP's mission to build excellent, neighborhood schools by strengthening relationships between families, schools, and local organizations.
This program-funded position coordinates projects and partnerships that expand family engagement, increase access to community resources, and align local efforts around school improvement and equity. The Project Manager collaborates with the CEO and key partners to ensure programs are well-organized, inclusive, and responsive to community priorities.
Essential Functions
Organizational and Program Coordination
• Assist the CEO with day-to-day operations related to community engagement, partner coordination, and event logistics.
• Manage the planning and execution of CEP’s community-based initiatives, ensuring projects are aligned with strategic goals.
• Maintain communication across programs and partners to ensure alignment, accountability, and timely follow-up.
• Track progress on program deliverables, prepare status updates, and contribute to grant and funder reports.
Community Partnerships and Collaboration
• Build and maintain partnerships with schools, nonprofits, civic groups, and neighborhood organizations that share CEP’s mission.
• Identify and connect community resources that support family engagement, educational improvement, and local collaboration.
• Coordinate joint initiatives that foster shared ownership of school improvement efforts and equitable access to opportunities.
• Attend community meetings, education forums, and local events to represent CEP and strengthen partnerships.
Event Planning and Engagement
• Plan, coordinate, and support Neighborhood Education Forums, Community School Design Labs, and related outreach events.
• Collaborate with families, educators, and community members to ensure events are accessible, inclusive, and solutions focused.
• Manage logistics such as venue scheduling, materials preparation, registration, and post-event follow-up.
• Collect feedback and participation data to inform program improvements and future planning.
Communication and Reporting
• Collaborate with the CEO and communications partners to prepare newsletters, community updates, and impact summaries.
• Support storytelling and documentation of successful partnerships, highlighting family and community leadership.
• Maintain project files, partner directories, and engagement databases to ensure data integrity and transparency.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in education, community development, public administration, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in project management, community engagement, or partnership coordination.
• Demonstrated success organizing events, managing multiple projects, and facilitating collaboration across diverse groups.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proven ability to build trust and work effectively with families, educators, and community stakeholders.
• Commitment to CEP’s mission of ensuring that every child has access to an excellent, community-anchored school.
Expected Outcomes
• Stronger collaboration between schools, families, and community partners.
• Increased visibility and participation in CEP programs and local initiatives.
• Enhanced coordination and use of community resources supporting family engagement.
• Timely completion of program milestones, reports, and partnership deliverables.
