Job Description

About The Kirkland Group

The Kirkland Group (TKG) is a trusted educational consulting firm founded in 1997. For over 28 years, we have partnered with K–12 schools and districts across the South to deliver high-impact services in teacher coaching, professional development, leadership support, ACT/Praxis prep, and data-driven school improvement. Our work is grounded in equity, accountability, and measurable outcomes that help schools close gaps and create lasting gains.

About the Role

The Kirkland Group is expanding its Arkansas High-Impact Tutoring and instructional support network and is seeking passionate, knowledgeable ELA and Math Instructional Coaches to join our team. This role blends instructional coaching and high-dosage tutoring—working hands-on with students and teachers to accelerate learning in school districts located in Eastern Arkansas. Coaches may reside anywhere within commuting distance of the Memphis metropolitan area. We welcome certified educators, interventionists, and instructional leaders who are passionate about student success and skilled at supporting classroom teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide small-group, high-dosage tutoring during the school day in partnership with school staff.
  • Model effective ELA or Math instruction aligned to Arkansas Academic Standards and High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM).
  • Support classroom teachers through collaborative planning, co-teaching, and instructional modeling.
  • Track and document student progress and tutoring sessions with fidelity.
  • Contribute to school-based improvement efforts focused on student growth and equity.

Our Coaching Model

TKG’s instructional coaching and tutoring model is grounded in Jim Knight’s Partnership Principles, emphasizing:

  • Equality – Teachers and coaches are partners in learning.
  • Choice – Teachers and tutors set personalized growth goals.
  • Dialogue & Reflection – Growth through conversation, analysis, and feedback.
  • Praxis – Translating theory into daily classroom practice.

This non-evaluative, relationship-based approach has proven to strengthen instructional practice and student outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Active or prior teaching certification (ELA or Math; Arkansas or other state accepted).
  • Strong knowledge of Arkansas Academic Standards in ELA or Math.
  • Experience working with data-driven instruction (e.g., NWEA MAP, DIBELS, ACT Aspire).
  • Organized and dependable with attention to detail in documentation.
  • Comfortable facilitating small-group instruction and collaborating with teachers and school leaders.
  • Ability to travel to Eastern Arkansas for in-person sessions.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in instructional coaching, intervention, or school improvement consulting.
  • Familiarity with Eureka Math, Amplify, Heggerty, or Wit & Wisdom materials.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with adult learners.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Competitive daily rate based on experience and certification (tutoring pay scale differs from consulting rate).
  • On-site tutoring and coaching during regular school hours (set weekly schedule).
  • Contract position (1099) through The Kirkland Group.

Equal Opportunity Statement

The Kirkland Group is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all hiring practices. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds who share our mission of improving student learning.
